Welcome to Chandler

I've been in Chandler since the first part of July and believe it or not, I kind of like it. Everything is soooo close and if it wasn't so HOT I'd actually walk to a lot of places. I'm looking for a place to live right here in Chandler because the ward wants me to stay and so does the Lord so I'm going to stay put. I have made a few friends so far here and the members of the ward are wonderful. They are rich, professional people. One sister is a retired school nurse after 17 yrs and she at one point owned her own floral shop. I want to become her new best friend since I love to work with flowers...she can show and help me a lot.

The RS president is awesome. She has called me and talked to me about my back, the cancer center, the trial that I'm currently going through and so forth. She has had her share of trials too. She told me that she lost her first husband and her children in a tragic airplane crash. What? Wow, seriously. I didn't know what to say. I couldn't believe it and the the best thing ever, she said, I'll see them again, I'm totally fine with it. What a wonderful sister.

I have Roxie here at Toni's with me. She doesn't care to much for the yellow lab. He is big and she is a little timid so she tends to sit on me, sleep with me and go with Kale and I walking every time we go outside. I try to take her everywhere so that she doesn't have to be alone or "bullied" by the "bigger" dog. Toni and her family love her though. Roxie is just Roxie and just sweet. Kale will hang out with her and they're good pals.

I am almost finished with my class. I have 4 days left. I have a 1050 word paper to write and a final exam. I'm scared to death to begin the exam. Just now, thinking about it, it makes my stomach turn. I don't do well with automated, timed and multiple choice tests. I fail them all of the time.

I want to go see a movie next week but can't think of which one to see. I'll have to make up my mind though quickly because the following week, I'll be in HI. Yeah!!

Tiffany called this week to tell me that she is totally excited. We can't wait. We're going to have soooo much fun.

I need to get some sleep. I'm running on about 8 hrs of sleep in 3 days. I can tell that it is killing me.

Be happy, the Lord loves you and me. Because of the atonement and because of the Savior we are all going to go through trials and great joys in this life. I know that he lives. I know that blessings come from living the gospel and following the counsel of the prophets.

Love,
Me

OK, the tragedy

Yes. Nathan said that he doesn't want to be married anymore. Yes, he said it Tuesday night. Yes, ALL the signs were there and YES, I'll add anything to my blog that I want to add.
There were signs for the past year and Karen chose to ignore them. He says that he didn't know until Sunday night

Yes, he said that he went to the temple and it was confirmed to do it after he talked to my mom. Yes, he said that we should part ways. Yes, I am changing my name back to Nihipali because it is cooler. Yes, I am shocked but then again, not really because like I said, all the signs were there and he said that he didn't have a clue until Sunday.

Example:
"I want to go to Harvard", says Nathan.

"That is great", says Karen. "What am I supposed to do while you go to Harvard?" she adds.

"I don't know, you can come if you want to".

Another example:

"When I finish my degree and get a real job and can support myself, I don't need to be married anymore". Seriously, true statement. He said that in the Fall 2009 when he finished his program of study.

And he didn't have a clue? I beg to differ. What do you think about all day long?
Yes, it sucks and it is going to be a lengthy divorce because the Wickes take their sweet time in getting things done. They are not quick and ALWAYS late.

Yes, I am in AZ and will be living in Chandler with my puppy. Yes, my family knows. He said that he wants a wife that is close to her mother, or someone that he can feel the spirit closer with, whatever that means.

Yes, he said that he can't feel the spirit when he is around me, whatever that means. You can't feel the spirit with your spouse if you are not doing celestial things. So, duh, its not a wonder.

Yes, we stopped reading scriptures, saying family prayer (even though he says we did, but I beg to differ and that they were in vain) and going to the temple together. I can't remember the last time we did. When the prophet says to study and ponder the scriptures together as a couple, he isn't saying to just read them and then part your ways. He is saying to talk about them and share your testimony with one another about them. We've NEVER done that and it sucks.

Sucks, doesn't it? Yes, it does.

Am I bitter? No. We all have our own choices. After stating the reality of it all, he might read this and think that I am bitter and think that I am being negative, but you know, someone has to be real.

Thanks for all of your prayers, your support and your honesty. I don't like any tinkering around with stuff. Fluff is not what it is about and I feel like this relationship was fluff and I do apologize to everyeone for making it seem that it was better than it really was, for obvious reasons.

Forever already

OK, I know that it has been since January 2010 since I posted anything. Can you believe that half of 2010 is over and that Christmas is around the corner?

I am in shock and just whipping through this year. What has happened since January, my gosh.

February 2010, started the new G-HRM Certificate and will finish 08/02 (which is just 3 weeks away) and took Cherry to Nogales, Mexico where she could say that she has been. We didn't even have a chance to go to Rocky Point while she was here. Sad days, oh well.

March 2010, took Cherry and Collette to the beautiful Grand Canyon and it was soooo stinkin' cold.

April 2010, General Conference which was wonderful. I hurt my back in April and it has been absolutely terrible since. I have spent more money at the Dr office and have been there more often in the past 3 months then I ever have been in probably 10 years. Nathan and I went to see the BYU Dancers at Gilbert High School. It was awesome. It was a variety of music and dance for the past 40 years. It was great.

May 2010, We took Cherry down to the Gila Valley Temple Open House where she could feel the spirit and know what "Mormons" believe. She thought that it was soooo beautiful and awesome. School ended. I had 2 garage sales back to back and boy, was it tiring.

June 2010, I had two steroid injections put in my back to help eliminate the pain and minimize the inflamation. I have another one in a couple of weeks too because it seems like the first two really didn't do much. I had the opportunity to go to Dallas, TX for Leadership Summit for work which was by invitation only and it was fabulous. I learned a lot about myself, about management and the university as a whole. I work for a great organization. There are a few pictures below that Nathan and I took while we were there and while we had some free time.

July 2010, well, it is official. Nathan is down in Douglas, AZ and I am staying with a sweet friend, Toni, her sister PJ and the daughter Ashley who is 3 until the end of the summer. I have Kale with me too and we are in Chandler. South of the 202 and right off of Alma School. He starts work on the 19th with Omega Alpha Charter School and is already setting up house and getting to know the area and the way that people live down there. He has gone to Agua Prieta, which is on the other side of the border, he has been pulled over by border patrol and he has even had the opportunity to go to the emergency room already for falling off the truck he drove down there. So, needless to say he has had his fun already and is enjoying it. The members are fabulous and are there assisting him which is an answer to my prayers.

Nathan and I had a body detox and it was so cool to see what happens in water from what shouldn't be in there. It was pretty neat.

I have a few doctors appointments that I need the insurance for from work and I need to find a job that will be suitable for me. I am hoping to work from home and won't know if it will work out until mid August.
I have booked my flight and found a place to stay for Hawaii for 9 days. My awesome friend Tiffany will be flying too from SLC and we'll meet up down there. We are staying at a hostel which are so much fun and cheap. Pictures will be posted for sure on FB and if I can remember, probably here too.

Well, technically this is about it.

Love ya all,
Karen & Nathan
